TEHRAN – Government spokesman Mohammad-Baqer Nobakht said on Tuesday that Mohammad-Ali Najafi, Tehran’s new mayor, has been invited to take part in the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Tasnim news agency reported.

Nobakht also expressed the hope that the mayor’s presence in cabinet meetings would lead to fruitful cooperation between the administration and the municipality.

He also said the government has not yet decided on whether Najafi will be a permanent attendee of cabinet meetings, emphasizing that certain legal procedure must be taken for that to happen. 

In a city council meeting on Tuesday, Najafi confirmed that he was invited to attend the upcoming cabinet meeting.
