Police arrests 101 professional thieves: Tehran police chief

TEHRAN – Tehran’s police chief has said that 101 professional thieves have been arrested in the capital Tehran during a 24-hour operation, Tasnim news agency reported.

Hossein Rahimi said on Monday that during the operation 28 gangs of thieves were disbanded and many muggers and purse thieves were detained.

Some 63 percent of the detainees have had criminal records, Rahimi said, adding that they have confessed to more than 900 cases of robberies so far.

He also assured people of police’s strong determination to create safer living conditions.
