Iran's petchem exports near $3.5b in 4 months

TEHRAN- Iran exported 7.188 million tons of petrochemical products worth $3.496 billion during the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-July 23), Shana reported on Sunday.

The report said that petrochemical exports stood at 6.847 million tons valued at $3.028 billion during the same period of time in the past year.

Iran produced 18 million tons of petrochemicals in the first four months of the current year, Ali-Mohammad Bossaqzadeh, the production control director of National Petrochemical Company (NPC), announced on August 1.

NPC plans to export 23 million tons of petrochemical products worth $11 billion by the end of the current calendar year (March 20, 2018).

In July, Bossaqzadeh announced that seven new petrochemical projects were planned to be implemented in the country by the yearend.

He put petrochemical output at 51 million tons in the past calendar year, saying that the figure is estimated to reach 56 million tons by the end of this year, posting a record for the second consecutive year.
