TEHRAN – Syrian President Bashad al-Assad has said his government trusts the Islamic Republic as well as Russia, stressing that “Iran has not let us down.”
Addressing an annual Syrian Foreign Ministry event in Damascus, Assad said he recognized Tehran and Moscow’s efforts within the Astana talks. “We know their goal is to resolve the crisis,” ISNA quoted him as saying on Sunday.
He also said he took pride in cooperation with the Lebanese Hezbollah, saying the resistance movements are “our allies”.
