Iran arrests 27 Daesh affiliates

TEHRAN – Iran’s Intelligence Ministry released a statement on Monday, announcing the arrests of 27 Islamic State affiliates.

The statement said that the arrested terrorists had plans to carry out operations in populated and religious cities of Iran.

Seventeen of the terrorists had been arrested inside the country and the rest outside the Iranian borders, the statement read, giving no details. 

On June 7, two ISIS-claimed terrorist attacks on the administrative building of Iran’s Majlis and the shrine of Imam Khomeini in Tehran left 17 people killed and 52 ones injured.

Iran’s security forces killed mastermind of the Tehran’s attacks just three days after the assault.

The Iranian Intelligence Ministry issued a statement on June 9 saying that 41 elements connected to the attacks were arrested.
