TEHRAN – Iran’s Navy chief said on Wednesday that Tehran has sent warships to the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean to ensure trade security.

“We are out in free waters even as far as 2,500 kilometers away from our borders to safeguard our resources and interests as well as ensure trade security,” Habibollah Sayyari said, ISNA reported.

The rear admiral also said the Navy’s recent joint maneuver with China was an exercise to boost preparedness.
