Top miniaturist Ali-Akbar Tajvidi dies at 91

TEHRAN – Veteran Iranian miniaturist Ali-Akbar Tajvidi died at his home in Paris on Saturday at the age of 91, the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art has announced.
He was a son of eminent miniaturist Hadi Tajvidi who also raised painter Mohammad Tajvidi and composer and violin virtuoso Ali Tajvidi.
Tajvidi also studied under Kamal-ol-Molk, the famous painter in the royal court the Qajar king, Nasser ad-Din Shah.
Tajvidi is also recognized as an art scholar. He was the author of “Iranian Painting from Ancient Time to Safavid Period”, which is one of the early books on the history of Iranian painting.
His remains are scheduled to be transferred to Iran for interment at Tehran’s Behesht Zahra Cemetery.
