TEHRAN – The director general of the political department of the Interior Ministry has said that an estimated 40 million people would vote in the presidential election on Friday, ISNA reported.

“With two political factions contesting, it is estimated that 70 percent of the population, amounting to 40 million Iranian nationals, to vote in the election,” Mohammad Amin Rezazadeh said on Sunday.

Boasting people’s active role in the country’s politics, Rezazadeh said the average voter turnout in Iran’s elections since the victory of the Islamic Revolution is about 67.7 percent.
