TEHRAN - The Interior Ministry's election headquarters has announced that it will reconsider decision not to broadcast presidential debates live.

Ehsan Ghazizadeh Hashemi, a member of the overseeing electoral body, made the comments on Friday, citing calls by six of the final presidential hopefuls.

Hours after the Guardian Council formally announced the qualified applicants, news outlets quoted Islamic Republic of Iran’s Broadcasting officials as saying that the May presidential election debates won’t be broadcast live unlike previous versions.
