Aref urges prominent clergyman to encourage high voter turnout

TEHRAN – Mohammad Reza Aref, head of the pro-reform Hope parliamentary faction, met on Tuesday with prominent cleric Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Mehdi Tabatabaei urging him to use his influence to encourage a high voter turnout in upcoming elections,
Aref said the clergy have been playing a key role in Iran’s political life, ISNA reported.
Aref also pointed out that reformists have so far supported President Rouhani and will continue to do so during the May 19 election.
