Restored world classics to screen at Fajr filmfest

TEHRAN – A lineup of 10 restored classic hits from world cinema is scheduled to be screened during a special program at the 35th Fajr International Film Festival in Tehran, the organizers announced on Sunday.

The program titled “Classics Preserved” includes the screenings of three films from Iranian cinema.

The films are “A Simple Event” (1973) by Sohrab Shahid Saless, “Captain Khorshid” (1987) by Nasser Taqvai and “God’s House” (1966) by Jalal Moqaddam. 

The lineup also comprises “City Lights” (1931) by Charles Chaplin and “Steamboat Bill Jr.” (1928) by Buster Keaton, both from the U.S., “Pickpocket” (1959) by Robert Bresson and “Daybreak” (1939) by Marcel Carne, both from France.

“The Last Chance” (1945) by Leopold Lindtberg from Switzerland, “Ran” (1985) by Akira Kurosawa from Japan and “The Lonely Voice of Man”(1987) by Aleksandr Sokurov from Russia are also among the films.

The 35th Fajr International Film Festival will be held in Tehran from April 21 to 28.
