Tehran seeking to increase number of Hajj pilgrims

TEHRAN – Iran has expressed hopefulness to increase the number of pilgrims it will be sending to Hajj beyond the previous 60,000, IRNA reported on Wednesday.
“This year we hope to be able to send 80,000 people on Hajj, because according to an Organization of Islamic Cooperation law, each country can send one thousandth of its population each year, and Iran’s population is currently over 80 million,” said Hamid Mohammadi, acting director of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization.
