TEHRAN – A senior London-based political analyst has highlighted Iran’s pivotal role in the recent talks in the Kazakh capital of Astana to end the protracted war in Syria.

Iran has been one of the most important actors among those trying to end the conflict, Alexander Mercouris told Tasnim on Saturday.

“A key point about the Astana talks is the central role that Iran is taking in them,” Mrcouris said, praising Iran as “one of the strongest allies of the Syrian government.”
