Iran’s Persepolis football team will fly to Oman on Friday, four days ahead of Tuesday night’s clash against Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal in the first week of the AFC Champions League.

Branko Ivankovic’s men, who lost the Tehran derby 3-2 against Esteghlal on Sunday, will take on Sepahan in the 22nd week of Iran Professional League on Thursday, one day prior to their trip to Muscat.

Persepolis are the hosts next Tuesday as the two clubs have chosen Oman as the neutral venue for the forthcoming matches in Group D.

The first match will be held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat, Oman, on February 21 while the second match will be held in the same venue on April 24.

The 2017 AFC Champions League group stage will be played from February 20 to May 10, 2017.

A total of 32 teams compete in the group stage to decide the 16 places in the knockout stage of the 2017 AFC Champions League.
