Iran basketball team lost to Japan 85-74 in a friendly match held in Tokyo on Friday.

The Iranian team, headed by Mehran Hatami, finished in second place at the West Asia Basketball Association (WABA) Championship 2017 Qualifiers last week.

Iran also qualified for the FIBA Asia Cup 2017 which will be held in Lebanon from August 10 to 20.

Iran B Team will also play Japan on Saturday as part of preparation for the upcoming tournaments.

Japan is also preparing for the East Asia Basketball Championship for Men to book a place in the FIBA Asia Cup 2017.
