Rakhshan Bani-Etemad on Vesoul festival jury
TEHRAN – Iranian director Rakhshan Bani-Etemad is on the jury of the 23rd Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema, which is currently underway in the French city.
Georgian director Rusudan Chkonia, Mongolian director Byambasuren Davaa and Sri Lankan film critic and director Vimukthi Jayasundara are the other members of the jury.
Three Iranian films are scheduled to be screened in different sections of the festival, which will run until February 14.
Mohsen Abdolvahab’s “Being Born” is competing in the official section of the festival.
The film tells the story of a couple, who are struggling financially when the wife finds out she is pregnant with their second child. So they opt for an abortion.
Veteran Iranian director Dariush Mehrjui’s 1969 drama “The Cow” and Abolfazl Jalili’s 2001 film “Delbaran” are also scheduled to go on screen at the Asian Country Sides section of the festival.
