TEHRAN – A 40th-day memorial service will be held for the late Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani on Thursday.

The service will be held from 15:00 to 17:00 by his tomb at the Imam Khomeini Mausoleum, the public relations office of the Expediency Council reported on Sunday.

The former Expediency Council chief died on January 8 of heart failure. He was buried on January 10. The ayatollah served in different posts including parliament speaker and president.
