TEHRAN – Five works by French playwrights are being read by some Iranian troupes during a program that began at Tehran’s City Theater Complex on Sunday.

The program entitled “One Month with Contemporary French Playwrights” has been organized by Rasha, an Iranian theater troupe led by Farhad Sharifi.

The opening performance was staged yesterday by Rasha, who read “Dimanche” (“Sunday”) by Michel Deutsch.

Next, a reading performance will be directed by Mojtaba Karimi on February 12. His troupe will read Michel Vinaver’s “La Demande d’emploi” (“The Application for Employment”).

On February 19, director Behzad Aqajamali’s group will perform “Quai Ouest” (“The Western Quay”) by Bernard-Marie Koltès.

“Une Envie de Tuer, Sur le Bout de la Langue” (“A Desire to Kill, On the Tip of the Tongue”) by Xavier Durringer will be directed by Sima Sheibani on February 26.

The closing performance is Enzo Cormann’s “L’Autre” (“The Other”), which will be staged by director Ali Mansuri’s troupe on March 8.

The translator of the plays, which have been rendered into Persian for the first time, is Ziba Khadem-Haqiqat.
