Europe buys 30m barrels of Iranian crude in Jan.-Aug.

TEHRAN – Seven European countries imported 4.22 million tons (nearly 30 million barrels) of Iranian crude oil during the first eight months of 2016, according to the latest data released by European Union’s statistics agency (Eurostat).

Belgium, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, and Poland were the buyers of Iranian crude.

France imported 15.3 million barrels of crude oil from Iran, accounting for 51 percent of Europe’s total oil imports from the country.

Spain and Greece followed France with importing 8.9 million barrels and 8.1 million barrels of oil, respectively.
