TEHRAN – The 41st edition of the Laceno d’Oro Film Festival plans to honor U.S.-based Iranian filmmaker Amir Naderi with the Camillo Marino lifetime achievement award, the organizers have announced.

“I’m really happy to participate in the Laceno d’Oro Film Festival,” Naderi has written in a note sent to the organizers.

“Receiving Camillo Marino lifetime achievement award is a great honor for me, I’m flattered”, he added.

Naderi will also hold a master class to be followed by a special screening of his 2016 movie “Monte” at the festival, which will be held at the Province of Avellino, Italy from December 1 to 12. 

The 105-minute drama was filmed in Italy in the mountainous regions of Alto Adige and Friuli. It tells the story of a man who makes every attempt to bring the sunlight into his village, where his family is barely able to survive because of the prevailing darkness.

The festival will also screen a collection of Naderi’s movies including “Marathon”, “A, B, C… Manhattan”, “Waiting” and “The Runner”.

Earlier in September, Naderi received the Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker award, an award given to original and innovative contributors to contemporary cinema, at the 73rd Venice Film Festival.
