Iran’s 7.5-month car output up 30.9% yr/yr

TEHRAN- Iranian car makers manufactured 753,580 vehicles since the beginning of current Iranian calendar year by the end of the first half of the eighth calendar month of Aban (March 20-November 5), showing 30.9 percent rise compared to the same period of time in the preceding year, Tasnim news agency reported on Friday.

Given that Iran has so far achieved 99 percent of its targets set for car manufacturing in the current calendar year, the country’s goals in this due will be materialized completely by the yearend (March 20, 2017), according to Amir-Hossein Qanati, the spokesman of Iran’s Auto Policy-Making Council.

Iran is scheduled to manufacture 1.35 million of cars by the end of the current calendar year, Deputy Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade Mohsen Salehinia announced in early April.

As Salehinia underlined, the government seeks to improve the quality as well as the quantity of the domestically produced cars on the way to boost their exports.
