Iran, Vietnam to set up joint business council
TEHRAN- Gholam-Hossein Shafe’i, the head of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA), announced that Iran-Vietnam Business Council will be established in near future, the portal of ICCIMA reported on Sunday.
The official said that such council will boost trade between the two countries and expand ties between Iranian and Vietnamese traders and businessmen.
Addressing a gathering of Iranian and Vietnamese high-ranking officials in the Vietnamese capital city of Hanoi on Sunday which was also attended by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Shafe’i expounded upon the pivots of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and mentioned President Rouhani’s trip to Vietnam “a turning point in the expansion of bilateral ties”.
During President Rouhani’s trip to Vietnam the two countries decided to raise their mutual trade value by five folds to $2 billion from its current $390 million.
The two sides also agreed on developing bilateral economic, banking, financial, commercial and tourism relations and launching Tehran-Hanoi direct flight.
Making investment in the mining sector was the other agreement made by the Iranian and Vietnamese officials.
They also came to the conclusion for holding the ninth meeting of Iran-Vietnam Joint Economic Committee in Tehran.
