Iran’s 5-month passenger car output up 10.6% yr/yr

TEHRAN - Iranian carmakers manufactured 448,522 passenger cars during the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20-August 21), showing 10.6 percent rise compared to the same period of time in the previous year, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) reported on Wednesday.
Iran ranked 13th in the world sales of passenger cars, hitting the sale of 1,055,400 cars in 2015, according to the report of the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers.
The report said that the number of passenger cars sold in Iran in 2015 accounted for 1.59 percent of the world’s total sale.
The figures show a 4.6 percent decrease in the sale of passenger cars compared to the 2014 number which stood at 1,106,700.
