Iran’s 4-month petchem exports stand at $3b

TEHRAN – Iran has exported 6.846 million tons of petrochemical products, worth $3 billion, during the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20-July 21, 2016), Shana reported on Tuesday.

The country has produced over 17 million tons of petrochemical products in the mentioned period, according to Shana, based on the Planning and Development Department of National Petrochemical Company (NPC).

During the fourth Iranian calendar month of Tir (June 21-July 21), the petrochemical exports reached near 2 million tons valued at about $731 million.

The total amount of Iran’s petrochemical production stood at 4.220 million tons by the end of Tir.

In the past Iranian calendar year (which ended on March 20, 2016), 46 million tons of petrochemicals were produced in Iran by the use of 80 percent of the capacity of domestic plants,  Alimohammad Bossaqzadeh, the NPC’s control manager, told the Shana news agency in early April.
