Iranian weightlifters could win medals at Olympics: coach
Iran weightlifting coach Sajjad Anoushiravani says that the Iranian lifters are capable of winning medals at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Iran will participate at the games with five athletes.
Behdad Salimi, Mohammad Reza Barari, Sohrab Moradi, Ali Hashemi and Kianoush Rostami will represent Team Iran at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Salimi will compete in the men’s +105kg at the Olympics.
Barari is Iran's representative in the men's -105kg.
In the men’s 94kg, Moradi and Hashemi will represent Iran in the prestigious event.
Rostami will take part in the men’s 85kg in the the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The weightlifting competition at Rio will be held from August 6.
“I have a lot of faith in my players and in my opinion they are capable of winning medals at the Olympics,” Anoushirvani said.
“Our weightlifters are well-prepared for the competition but sport is not predictable. We are going to prevent injuries ahead of the Olympics,” he added.
“We’ve analyzed our players and I am sure the Iranian representatives are capable of winning medals at the competition,” the London silver medal winner concluded.
