Japan’s oil imports from Iran jumps near 200% in June

TEHRAN- Japan’s imports of crude oil from the Islamic Republic surged 195.8 percent in the sixth month of 2016, compared with the same time in the preceding year, IRNA cited Iranian Ministry of Oil.
Japanese import of crude oil from Iran stood at 1.312 million kiloliters in June according to the released data.
Japan’s oil imports from Iran have been recovering during the past six months, from the lowest levels in 2011 when they nearly halved imports after Tehran came under strict Western sanctions.
Japan has reportedly imported 192,180 barrels per day of Iranian crude between January and May this year, up 1.9 percent from the same period a year ago.
