Amir-Abdollahian takes new post in Majlis
TEHRAN – Former diplomat Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Sunday was introduced as the new director of international affairs of the Majlis, Mehr reported.
The former deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs replaced Hossein Sheikholeslam, who some news outlets have speculated will be named as Iran’s ambassador to Syria.
Amir-Abdollahian was recently replaced by Hossein Jabberi Ansari, who had acted as the Foreign Ministry spokesman.
Amir-Abdollahian was made advisor to Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif after removed from the post. Shortly after, he was made advisor to Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani for international affairs.
Amir-Abdollahian had previously acted as Iran’s ambassador to Bahrain. He also represented Tehran in the Syrian peace talks.
