TEHRAN -- GEM TV, a Persian-language entertainment satellite channel with headquarters located in Dubai, has gotten Iranian film producers into trouble by broadcasting their films’ trailers.
By law, Iranian producers and companies are not allowed to advertise their movies or musical productions on foreign satellite channels.
The Tehran Public Court ruled on Wednesday that Iranian movie theaters to stop screening “We Don’t Be Habituated” by Ebrahim Ebrahimian.
In a press release published on Wednesday, the court said the decision was made after the producers of the film disregarded the court’s demand to stop advertising on GEM TV.
However, Ebrahimian and producer Peyman Jafari announced on the Wednesday the channel broadcasted the movie trailers without permission from them.
GEM TV also aired trailers of “Scandal 2” by Masud Dehnamaki and “Standing in the Dust” by Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian.
In statements published on Thursday, the producers of the two movies also censured GEM TV for broadcast of the trailers of their films and insisted that the channel has aired the trailers without permission from them.
The statements said that the trailers broadcast from GEM TV have been downloaded from Iranian websites and demanded that the executives of the channel stop airing them.
