Pop singer, songwriter Habib Mohebbian dies at 63

TEHRAN – Iranian pop singer and songwriter Habib Mohebbian died on Friday of a heart attack in Niasteh, a village near the northern city of Ramsar. He was 63.

Mohebbian, who had spent years living in the United States after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, returned to Iran several years ago to pursue his career in his homeland.

He was suffering from heart disease for several years, the Persian service of MNA reported on Friday.

“Mother” and “Lonely Man of Night” are among his greatest hits.
