Iran’s national library, China’s state archives sign MOU
TEHRAN -- The National Library and Archives of Iran (NLAI) and the State Archives Administration of China have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU).
The MOU was inked by NLAI Director Seyyed Reza Salehi-Amiri and State Archives Administration of China Deputy Director Li Minghua during a meeting in Beijing on Monday, the NLAI reported on Tuesday.
Based on the MOU, the two sides agreed to boost collaborations in preserving and restoring historical documents, and archiving. Exchanging experts on archive materials, images of the documents preserved in both organizations, as well as providing knowledge on archive sciences were also mentioned in the agreement.
The two also expressed their interest in holding joint exhibitions of documents.
Salehi-Amiri, who arrived in Beijing on Monday at the head of a delegation, also met with his counterpart, Han Yongjin, the director of the National Library of China (NLC).
The two officials opened “Beautiful Iran”, an exhibition that showcases the natural beauty, historical sites and wonderous scenery of Iran.
At the opening ceremony, Salehi-Amiri called Iran and China the two countries with ancient and invaluable heritage and civilizations.
He hoped that the exhibit would facilitate a further step in elevating culture and expanding bilateral cooperation.
Han Yongjin, also for his part, said that he believes these types of activities help deepen ties, he also asked for increased relations with the National Library and Archives of Iran.
The exhibit will be on display for ten days.
The National Library and Archives of Iran (NLAI) hosted “Beautiful China”, an exhibition showcasing the natural beauty and magnificent scenery of China, in January 2016.
