TEHRAN – Iran’s El Faro Children and Young Adults Group, which specializes in the children’s literature, is to release a comic strip on Ashura, the day when Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions were martyred on the 10th of Muharram in 680.

“The Story of Ashura” is a comic strip written by Mohammad-Saeid Bahmani and published by Danesh-Amuz Publications in 2009, director of the Spanish department of El Faro Farhad Fallah told the Persian service of MNA on Tuesday.

“The book is a pictorial narration of the events which have happened in Karbala, depicting the events leading to the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) on Ashura,” Fallah added.

“We are going to publish the book and distribute it to the Islamic centers. That is, we do not intend to sell the book in public bookstores, but we also believe that the illustrations will be beautiful enough to attract non-Muslim readers,” he added.

Fallah also explained that comic strips are so popular among children in Latin America that the illustrations painted by Parviz Eqbali, in the teahouse paintings format, will attract more readers.

“The Story of Ashura” has been translated into several other languages so far.
