Iran’s Amir Ghafour a doubt for crucial France clash in WOQT

The Iranian opposite spiker Amir Ghafour will likely miss France match in the Men’s World Olympic Qualification Tournament.

The Iranian team has been scheduled to meet France on the third day of the competition at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on Tuesday.

“Amir feels a little pain in his knee in the match against Canada. We prefer to rest him against France. We are waiting for the results of MRI scan and then we will announce the extent of his injury,” Siamak Afrouzi, Iran's volleyball team doctor, said.

Ghafour top scored for Iran in the opening match against Australia with 19 points, while the Persians defeated their rivals 3-0.

Iran and Poland stay unbeaten in the tournament.

Raul Lozano’s men made an incredible comeback in the match against Canada as they overcame their losses in the first two sets. Iran defeated Canada 3-2 (27-29, 19-25, 25-20, 25-21, 16-14) to maintain a 2-0 win-record in the tournament.

The best ranked Asian team and the top three ranked teams from this tournament will qualify for the Olympics.
