Rosatom to start engineering of Bushehr-2 by end of 2016: source
Russia’s Rosatom intends to start engineering of the Bushehr-2 nuclear power plant in Iran by 2016 year-end after endorsement of site parameters by the customer, a source at the Russian state-owned nuclear corporation said on Tuesday.
“We expect the Iranian customer will determine site parameters, and engineering will start before the year-end,” the source said. “Iran should identify seismic parameters,” he added.
The first power unit of Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant obtained the operating license on April 20, the source said. “Receipt of this document was a mandatory condition of final turnover of the power unit to the Iranian customer,” he said.
It was reported earlier work on the construction site for the new nuclear power units in Iran may start in the coming two years. Investments are estimated to total $11 billion dollars.
