TEHRAN – Hundreds of people converged on Taksim Square in Istanbul, Turkey, on Saturday protesting the hostile moves against Iran by the United States, the Zionist regime, and a number of European countries.

According to the Persian service of IRNA, the protesters chanted slogans in condemnation of the sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic and carried banners bearing various slogans in support of the country.

“The Iranian People Are Not Alone,” “We Side with Iran,” “Down with Imperialist U.S.,” were among the slogans.

At the end of the demonstration, a Turkish Iranologist and writer delivered a speech in support of Iran’s stances toward the policies of certain Western countries.

After 33 years, the writer said, Iran is still withstanding the pressure exerted by the U.S. and the Islamic Republic has proved that it will not bow to the Western pressure.

He went on to say that if a small part of the sanctions that have been imposed against Iran were imposed on Turkey, “we could not predict what would happen to the country (Turkey),” but Iran has been making incremental progress over the past years without any fear of the sanctions.

In conclusion, he expressed hope that Iranian and Turkish officials would side with each other against the West.
