TEHRAN -- The Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics Spokesman Keyvan Khosrawi said here on Wednesday that the modern surface-to-air missile `Sayyad-1' was successfully test fired on Wednesday. Khosrawi said the missile, produced completely by the airspace industries organization, affiliated to the Defense and Armed Forces Logistics Ministry, was named after the late Iranian Army Commander Lieutenant General Ali Sayyad Shirazi to appreciate his braveries and devotion.
Shirazi was gunned down by the terrorist Mujahideen Khalq Organization (MKO) agents, disguised as city cleaners, on April 10, as he was travelling to his work. Khosrawi said that manufacture of the missile would meet a part of Iran's air defense needs for the medium-range and long-range surface-to-air missiles. (IRNA)
