Islamic Republic Day Marked Across the Country

SHAHR-E REY Flowers were showered by helicopters on the mausoleum of the Father of Islamic Revolution and Founder of the Islamic Republic the late Imam Khomeini and on tombs of revolutionary martyrs on Thursday, Farvardin 12 (April 1) to mark the anniversary of the Islamic Republic's establishment in Iran. Thousands of pilgrims to the mausoleum chanted 'Allah-o Akbar' (God is the greatest) to commemorate the occasion.

Based on another report Iranian flags were hoisted atop public places and administrative offices and stores were decorated with lights to endear the auspicious event. Meanwhile, Malek Abdullah, King of Jordan here Wednesday felicitated the paramount Leader of the Islamic Revolution Grand Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and the Iranian President and Chairman of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Hojjatoleslam Seyed Mohammad Khatami on the occasion of 20th anniversary of establishment of Islamic Republic of Iran. In his message to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution the King of Jordan prayed to Almighty Allah for good health and safety of the supreme religious jurisprudent and further dignity and improvement of the friendly nation of Iran. The Jordanian King in another message to President Khatami extended his Hashemite kingdom's sincere greetings on the auspicious occasion and prayed to God for good health and safety of the OIC chief and dignity, honor and further prosperity of the Iranian nation.

Also, Tehran Armenians' Archbishop Ardak Manukian in separate messages on Wednesday congratulated paramount Leader of Islamic Revolution, supreme religious jurisprudent, Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Iranian officials on Farvardin 12 (April 1). The message wished prosperity for the Leader, long and durable life of Iran's Islamic Republic sovereign state and success of Iranian nation. In another message Manukian prayed to God Almighty for prosperity of President Mohammad Khatami and Iranian nation.

Persident Mohammad Rafiq Tarar and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan have greeted President Mohammad Khatami, on the occasion of Islamic Republic Day of Iran, which lies on the 1st of April. In his message, President Tarar said: ``Excellency, it gives me immemnce pleasure to convey to you and the friendly Iranian people our most sincere felecitations on the happy occasion of the republic day of Iran.'' Pakistan and Iran are bound by the strong ties of friendship and brothehood based on historical, religious and cultural affinities.

A tradition of close political cooperation has marked our relations. We are confident that our fraternal mutually-beneficial ties would continue to flourish in the years to come, President Tarar added in his message. In a separate message to President Khatami, Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif said: Excellency, on the auspicious occasion of the Islamic Republic Day of Iran, it gives me great pleasure to convey on behalf of the government and the people of Pakistan and on my own behalf, cordial greetings and the the best wishes to your excellency, the government, and the fraternal Iranian people.

The imperishable bonds of friendship and brotherhood between Pakistan and Iran, based on common Islamic heritage, shared traditions, and common interests have stood in the test of time, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif added, in his message. Mr. Nawaz Sharif added, We have no doubt that these cordial ties would continue to grow to the mutual benefit of our two countries and peoples.

A large number of Hajj pilgrims gathered at Leader's office in Holy Mecca on Thursday to commemorate Farvardin 12 (April 1). Hojatoleslam Sheikh Hossein Ansarian, a cleric said at the ceremony that Farvardin 12 is a divine day. On this day, he said, the Iranian nation voted for the holy system of Islamic Republic after uprooting the government of idols under the leadership of the late Imam Khomeini. Ansarian said that enemy efforts to impose various pressures on the Islamic Republic establishment were thwarted thanks to leadership of the late Imam Khomeini and the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Related reports from the holy city indicates that the pilgrims taking part in 'Komeyl' supplications here on Thursday prayed to God almighty for majesty of the Islamic Republic's holy system, for long life of the supreme Leader and for spiritual elevation of the late Imam and martyrs in the world hereafter.
