TEHRAN - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has praised permanently disabled war veterans and their families for showing great devotion, making tremendous sacrifices, and enduring hardships for years.
Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in Tehran on Wednesday during a meeting with war veterans who received permanent spinal cord injuries during the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war.
The meeting was held on the last day of Sacred Defense Week, which is an annual event commemorating the anniversary of the beginning of the Iran-Iraq war.
“Sacrificing your health and happiness for Islam and the revolution is a profitable deal with the one God,” the Leader stated.
He added that the disabled veterans who have sustained permanent spinal cord injuries are making a greater sacrifice than martyrs because they are constantly struggling with hardships and suffering extreme physical agony.
