Ukraine Wants U.S. to Extradite Ex-PM

KIEV The president of the Ukraine expects that the United States to send back to the former Soviet state former Prime Minister Pavlo Lazarenko who has been charged with large-scale corruption, Kuchma's spokesman said on Tuesday. President (Leonid) Kuchma expects U.S. immigration services to extradite Pavlo Lazarenko to Ukraine, Olexander Martynenko told Reuters. Lazarenko, who was prime minister in 1996-1997, was detained on Friday by the United States immigration service at New York's Kennedy airport for visa irregularities.
