TEHRAN – Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Director Fereydoun Abbasi has described his meeting with International Atomic Energy Atomic Director General Yukiya Amano, which was held in Vienna on Monday, as positive.
Abbasi, who arrived in the Austrian capital on Saturday to attend the 55th annual regular session of the IAEA General Conference which opened on September 19 and runs until 23, made the remarks in an interview with ISNA published on Tuesday.
Abbasi said that Amano hailed Iran’s recent offer of cooperation, adding, “We agreed that cooperation between Iran and the agency would continue.”
On September 5, Abbasi said that Tehran is ready to allow the IAEA to fully supervise Iran’s nuclear facilities for five years if the sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic are lifted.
During the interview, Abbasi also said, “It was agreed that preliminary consultations would be held between Iran’s permanent envoy to (the United Nations Office at) Vienna and the agency’s officials in order to clarify and clear up the ambiguities.”
