TEHRAN – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his cabinet members visited on Saturday the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini to renew their commitment to the ideals of the founder of the Islamic Republic.
The visit came on the fourth day of the Government Week (last week of August).
The Government Week is observed in Iran from August 24 to 30 in commemoration of President Mohammad Ali Rajaii, Prime Minister Mohammad Javad Bahonar, and a number of their companions who were martyred in a terrorist attack on August 30, 1981.
Later, the president, the ministers, and the vice presidents visited the tombs of the martyrs of the Islamic Revolution and the Iraqi imposed war against Iran.
The president also met with the people at the mausoleum and listened to their grievances.
In a message issued on Saturday, Ahmadinejad commemorated the Government Week and said the dignity of the Islamic Republic’s officials has its roots in serving the people.
The sitting government is determined to profit by the opportunity and serve the people by taking Rajaii and Bahonar as models of good conduct, he added.
