Greco-Roman wrestler Sourian qualifies for Rio

The London 2012 gold medalist and six-time world champion Hamid Sourian won gold medal in Greco-Roman at the 2nd World Olympic Games Qualifier at the Bagcilar Sports Complex on Friday.
Sourian defeated Croatian Ivan Lizatovic 9-0 and then beat German Erik Weiss 8-0 in quarter-final.
He defeated Ukraine’s Tsymbalyuk Dmitry 8-0 in the semi-final and won the gold medal after beating Jesse David Thielke from USA 9-0.
The top two wrestlers in each discipline and weight category were awarded Olympic quota spots.
The 59kg wrestler gave Iran entries in all 12 men’s events.
President of the Iranian National Olympic Committee Kioomars Hashemi expressed his congratulation to the Greco-Raman wrestler for securing his place in the prestigious event.
