Iranian scholar Aryan Rezai to speak at Augusto Boal remembrance

TEHRAN -- Iranian scholar Aryan Rezai is scheduled to deliver a lecture during a ceremony that the University of Parma will hold on May 2 to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the passing of Augusto Boal (1931-2009), the Brazilian founder of the Theater of the Oppressed. 

Theater of the Oppressed is a form of theater that transforms audiences into active participants in the theatrical experience.

Created in the early 1970s, Theater of the Oppressed has become an international theater movement with adherents in more than 40 countries.

Roberto Mazzini, one of the leading figures of the movement in Italy; Boal’s son, Julian Boal; and Hjalmar Jorge from Ukraine will also speak at the ceremony.
