TEHRAN – A collection of rare Georgian manuscripts is on display at the National Library and Archives of Iran (NLAI) during an exhibit, which opened its doors to the public on Sunday.

NLAI Deputy Director Gholamreza Amirkhani, Georgian Ambassador Ioseb Chakhvashvili and dozens of Tehran-based Georgians were in attendance at the opening ceremony of the showcase.

In a short speech, Amirkhani pointed to cultural affinities between Iran and Georgia, and referred to
Georgian romances and epics, which blended the civilization of Persia with original elements of Caucasian folklore, one of which is “Visramiani: The Story of the Loves of Vis and Ramin”, adapted from an Iranian romance dating back to Parthian times.
