TEHRAN – Spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran has said Tehran is drafting a document on nuclear cooperation with the European Union (EU).

Behrouz Kamalvandi let slip the news in an interview with al-Alam News Network on Sunday, declining to comment further.

“Details will be announced as soon as the document gets prepared,” the AEOI spokesman added.

Tehran was under the heaviest sanctions regime for its nuclear program by the West prior to forging the JCPOA, which ended the impasse over its nuclear dossier with the West since 2003.

Under the agreement, signed by Iran and the 5+1 group of countries on July 14, 2015, Iran agreed to limit the scope of its nuclear program in exchange for relief from sanctions, including those imposed by the United Nations.

“Practical cooperation has started, delegations have already been exchanged with the European Union, China, Korea, and Japan. A document which will be signed with the EU will be prepared,” Kamalvandi was quoted as saying.

While prior to the July contract, Iran was denied access to advanced technologies in the field of nuclear technology, now the country can enter scientific joint partnerships with the international community.

Kamalvandi added rather than being a one-way street, the document will depict an “interaction framework in the interest of the both sides.”

On April 7, one day before the 10th Anniversary Day of Nuclear Technology, Iran unveiled 12 indigenously-manufactured nuclear advances, including two zonal and ultra centrifuge machines.
