Iran, UN hold talks on Yemen

TEHRAN – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, the UN special envoy for Yemen, held phone conversation on Saturday on the latest developments in Yemen.
Amir-Abdollahian said the situation in Yemen is worsening and terrorism is spreading at the southern parts of the country.He said that Iran supports the UN envoy’s efforts and highlighted the importance of finding a political solution to the crisis and brokering dialogue among the Yemeni sides.
The UN official praised Iran’s “constructive approaches” in fighting terrorism.
According to Reuters, Yemen has become one of the world's worst humanitarian crises. The UN says famine looms as over half the population, or 14.4 million people, face hunger and not even its hospitals are spared.
