@t = Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi deputy crown prince, has said that Saudi Arabia does not foresee war with Iran despite heightened tensions between the regional heavyweights.
Prince Mohammed bin Salman told the Economist magazine: “It is something that we do not foresee at all, and whoever is pushing towards that is somebody who is not in their right mind,” Al Jazeera reported on Friday.

“Because a war between Saudi Arabia and Iran is the beginning of a major catastrophe in the region... For sure we will not allow any such thing,” he said.

Saudi Arabia late on Sunday hastily announced the severance of diplomatic ties with Iran under the pretext of an attack on its embassy in Tehran late on Saturday by dozens of protestors, who had been enraged by the execution of pro-democracy Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr Baqr al-Nimr.

Bahrain and Sudan followed Saudi Arabia by cutting ties with Iran.
