TEHRAN – Senior nuclear negotiator Abbas Araqchi says Iran’s stance has been reflected in a draft resolution for the IAEA Board of Governors.

In a phone interview with the IRIB’s channel one on Tuesday, Araqchi said the draft resolution is written in a clear text that would explicitly close the so-called possible military dimensions (PMD) of Iran’s nuclear past.

Araqchi also added that the text of the draft resolution was produced after intense discussions between the Iranian side and the 5+1 group representatives.

The draft resolution, he added, clearly states that the measures envisioned in the July 14 roadmap signed between Iran and the IAEA have been undertaken thoroughly.

Iran’s representative to IAEA, Reza Najafi, also said on Tuesday that the Board of Governors is to close Iran’s previous nuclear dossiers.

Based on clause 14 of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the 5+1 has drafted the resolution with “the aim of closing the PMD file”, Najafi said.

He added that according to the clause 9 of the draft resolution prepared by 5+1 group, all activities pertaining to Iran’s nuclear program defined in the roadmap have been carried out in due time covering Iran’s past and present nuclear activities in line with the PMD.

The IAEA Board of Governors should now cancel all 12 previous resolutions including two resolutions on the MPD dated November 2011 and December 2012, he stated.

According to the draft resolution, this means that the IAEA director no longer has duty to report about the PMD.

It is expected that the resolution be approved on Tuesday December 15, Najafi said.
