Iran-Armenia trade gathering to expand bilateral ties

TEHRAN- Iran-Armenian trade gathering will be held today in Tehran in a bid to expand bilateral economic and trade ties between the two countries, according to the Mehr News Agency.
The gathering will be participated by an Armenian 80-memebr trade delegation, led by the country’s Minister of Economy Karen Chshmaritian, and some Iranian traders and businessmen.Chshmaritian is secluded to meet with some Iranian officials including Iranian Industry, Mining and Trade Minister Mohammadreza Ne’matzadeh during his stay in Iran.
The Armenian delegates are active in the fields such as food and related industries, information technology, constructional materials, plastic and leather products, agricultural machinery, air conditioning systems, and jewelry.
In a meeting with Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mine, and Agriculture Chairman Mohsen Jalalpour in Tehran on October 10, Armenian Ambassador to Iran Artashes Tumanyan said “I believe that exchange of trade delegations between Iran and Armenia will promote the bilateral cooperation”.
“Iran is of high importance for Armenia both in the political and economic aspects. We always think about having stable ties with Iran”, he noted.
He said Iran’s nuclear deal with the world’s major powers prepares the ground for the expansion of trade ties between Iran and Armenia.
Making a preferential trade agreement between Iran and Armenia is of great importance, the Armenian ambassador highlighted.
Jalalpour, for his part, stressed expansion of Iran-Armenia trade relations through removing legal barriers and also signing a preferential trade agreement between the two countries.
Armenia was the 23rd largest importer of Iranian non-oil goods in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-Septemebr 22), according to the Iran Customs Administration.
Iran exported $63.847 million of non-oil goods to Armenia and imported $5.409 million of non-oil goods from the country in the six-month period.
It is while Armenia was the 27th leading importer of Iranian non-oil goods in the previous Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, with importing $120.047 million of non-oil goods from Iran and exporting $19.37 million of non-oil goods to the country.
