TEHRAN – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said that all the sides to the nuclear agreement should make efforts to meet their commitments in implementing the deal.
“Now all the efforts should be focused on implementing the agreement completely and precisely,” Rouhani said during a meeting with French President Francois Hollande in New York on Sunday. The nuclear agreement signed between, Iran and the 5+1 group - the United States, Britain, France, China and Russia plus Germany – on July 14 is entering the implementation stage.
Rouhani also said that Iran welcomes expansion of ties with France in political, economic and cultural areas.
He added that the two countries can cooperate in fighting terrorism and establishing peace and stability in Syria, Yemen and Lebanon.
For his part, Hollande said the French government is determined to expand cooperation with Iran. He also highlighted the importance of Iran’s status in the Middle East region.
Hollande has invited Rouhani to visit France. The visit will take place in November.
On Monday, Rouhani also conferred with British Prime Minister David Cameron on issues of mutual interests on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
They discussed issues of mutual interests, regional and global developments.
The meeting with the British prime minister had been set for Tuesday but due to the decision made by Rouhani to cut short his New York visit, it was held on Monday.
This is the first meeting between the two officials after Iran and Britain reopened their embassies in London and Tehran on August 23.

Late on Sunday Rouhani also held talks with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in New York. During the meeting Rouhani said Tehran and Ankara should forge closer cooperation on different fronts.
“Iran and Turkey have common viewpoints on many global issues, and the relations between the two countries should expand more in all areas,” said Rouhani, according to the Press TV.
Pointing to the crimes committed by terrorists against people in Iraq and Syria, the president called for cooperation and consultation between Tehran and Ankara to rid the Middle East of scourge of terrorism.
The president also said Iran and Turkey should help prevent a “disintegration of neighboring countries”, secure the region and help the return of refugees to their homes.
The Turkish prime minister, in turn, said his country seeks to pump up trade with Iran to 30 billion dollars.
He said Iran-Turkey relations can set an example for other countries, including neighboring states, adding that Tehran and Ankara are on the same page when it comes to fighting terror in the region.
