TEHRAN – A trade delegation from the Netherlands plans to travel to Iran in the Iranian calendar month of Azar (November 22-December 21), said Valiollah Afkhami-Rad, the director of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran.

He made the statement in a meeting with Marten Van den Berg, the director general of foreign economic relations department at the Netherlands’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Tasnim news agency reported on Monday.

The bilateral non-trade in the previous Iranian calendar year (March 2014-March 2015) was less than $300 million, Afkhami-Rad said, adding that the figure was $2.3 billion eight years ago.

He welcomed Dutch investors in Iranian projects, saying that this issue will be not only beneficial for the two sides, but will be also beneficial for the regional markets.

Trade between Iran and the Netherlands amounted to $273 million in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year. Iran exported $254.56 million of non-oil goods to the Netherlands, and imported $18.35 million of non-oil goods from the European country.

The value of trade between Iran and the European Union member states reached €2.407 billion in the first four months of 2015, a four percent rise from €2.201 billion in the same period of time in 2014, according to the EU statistics agency Eurostat.

The value of trade between Iran and the EU countries rose 20 percent in 2014 compared to its previous year.
